Eight months, thirty accounts, north of nine hundred reels. Here is what the data actually showed, stripped of the guru advice.
The first 1.5 seconds decide everything
Reels that opened on a face speaking or on visible motion held roughly twice the audience of those opening on a logo, a title card or a slow pan. There is no recovering a viewer you lost in the first second.
Behind-the-scenes outperformed polished production
Consistently, and by a wide margin. A shaky phone video of the kitchen at 6am beat the ₹40,000 brand film almost every time. Audiences are not looking for an advertisement.
Posting time mattered less than we expected
Consistency mattered far more. Accounts posting four times a week at random hours outperformed accounts posting twice a week at the “optimal” time.
Local audio, local reach
Using regional trending audio significantly improved distribution to nearby users — which, for a business with one physical location, is the only reach that pays.
